General questions

An implant is a suitable dental treatment method for individuals who have missing teeth. An implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium that is inserted into the jawbone to provide support. A prosthetic tooth is then placed onto the implant, which fills the space of the missing tooth both functionally and aesthetically.

However, not everyone may be suitable for implant surgery. The suitability of implant surgery may depend on a person’s overall health condition, gum and jawbone structure, and smoking habits, for example. For instance, individuals with inadequate bone density or severe gum disease may not be suitable for implant treatment. Also, implant surgery is not recommended for adolescents whose bone development is not yet complete.

Therefore, the suitability of implant surgery needs to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. A dental professional or implant specialist will examine and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs to determine the most appropriate treatment option for you.

Zirconium coating and laminate teeth are common treatment methods in the field of dental aesthetics. Both are used to correct or improve the color, shape, and size of teeth. However, they have several different features.

Zirconium coating is applied to the front and side surfaces of teeth, while laminate teeth are only applied to the front surface of teeth. Zirconium coating uses a thicker material, while laminate teeth use a very thin layer of porcelain. Both treatment methods are suitable options for dental aesthetics, but which method is most appropriate depends on the individual’s situation and needs.

The symptoms may include:

Toothache: If your tooth hurts and the pain continues constantly or intermittently, you may need a root canal treatment.

Tooth sensitivity: If hot, cold, or sweet foods and drinks cause sensitivity in your tooth, you may need a root canal treatment.

Gum swelling: If there is swelling or redness around your tooth and this condition persists for a long time, you may need a root canal treatment.

Change in tooth color: If your tooth has become yellowish or dark in color, you may need a root canal treatment.

Tooth decay: If you have cavities in your tooth and the cavities have reached the nerve of the tooth, you may need a root canal treatment.

Orthodontic treatment with clear aligners is a method used to slightly straighten teeth. In this method, specially made clear aligners are placed over the teeth and changed at regular intervals. Each aligner is designed slightly differently from the previous one to help straighten the teeth a little more

Clear aligners are a more comfortable and aesthetic option compared to traditional metal wire braces. Additionally, aligners can be removed at any time, making it easier to brush teeth and eat. However, treatment with clear aligners may not be suitable for more serious dental problems, and the treatment process may be slightly longer. Some people may also experience slight discomfort when the aligners are being fitted.

Wisdom teeth can be extracted at different times and in different situations depending on the suitability of the jaw structure and other teeth. If they are causing overcrowding by pushing other teeth: In situations where the jaw structure is limited, wisdom teeth can cause overcrowding by pushing other teeth. In this case, wisdom teeth should be extracted because they prevent other teeth from settling properly by pushing them. If they are causing gum problems: Wisdom teeth can cause infections and pain under the gums when they erupt. In this case, wisdom teeth should be extracted when gum problems occur. If there is a high risk of decay: Wisdom teeth have a higher risk of decay than other teeth because they pose difficulties in oral hygiene. Therefore, wisdom teeth with a higher risk of decay than other teeth should be extracted before affecting other teeth. When orthodontic treatment is required: In some cases, wisdom teeth need to be extracted during orthodontic treatment. This is valid for crowded teeth that hinder the movement of other teeth or prevent them from settling properly after treatment.

Esthetic filling and veneer are different dental restoration methods used in different situations. The choice of which method to use depends on the condition of the tooth to be restored, the extent of damage, and the patient’s preferences.

Esthetic fillings are used to repair minor damage to the tooth (decay, fracture, wear) and are made in colors that match the natural color of the tooth. These fillings can usually be applied in a single session and are a more economical option. However, in cases of major damage or excessive wear, a filling may not be a sufficient solution.

Veneers are used for larger damage to the front surface of the tooth and are usually made of porcelain. The veneer is placed after removing the top layers of the tooth, providing a more natural appearance. However, this process may require several sessions and is a more expensive option.

The choice of which method to use should be determined after a dental examination by your dentist.

Teeth whitening is not a long-term process. It can typically be completed in a few hours or take a few weeks when applied at home. However, side effects such as sensitivity or gum problems may occur during the teeth whitening process.

There is a claim that teeth whitening damages tooth enamel, but this is not true. Teeth whitening does not damage tooth enamel. However, when teeth whitening is overused or incorrectly applied, it can cause temporary sensitivity and gum problems. Therefore, if you are considering teeth whitening, it should be performed by a dentist.
